Cafetales

On a quiet evening in a cafe sipping ice tea, I saw this young girl also alone, couple of tables away her back to me. What struck me from behind was her jimikki, swaying and dancing on her ears at every slight movement.

It was like those bells were talking to me.. “Come to me.. Say hello! What are you waiting for..” And all I could do was just stare at those two bells mesmerised.

Soon she was talking to somebody on her phone and it was like those ear pendants were telling her story to me. Intrigued, aren’t you? So was I!

Soon she got up to leave and I had still not seen her face, I quickly dashed to get a quick glimpse of her.. but my waiter came running, for I had not paid the bill! And the last I saw of her as she left was her jimikki.. dancing to her steps!

As I quickly signed my bill and crossed her table, where she sat just a few minutes ago.. I saw the name ‘Ananya’ scribbled over ten times on her napkin.

Some memories are so vivid even after so many years. To this day, I wonder if I will ever see her and her jimikki to tell all of her story!
