Growing old together!

It was just one of those days when I was feeling low and in the mood for a long drive. After almost 2 hours I reached the famous Shore Temple in Mahabalipuram, just as the blazing sun was about to call it a day.

I sat on the lush green lawn, kept looking at the walkway and the sound of the ocean not far off had a soothing effect on me almost immediately.

It was crowded for a week day, I assume. Several tourists passed me with a smile and a hello. Soon I was feeling good again, in peace with my conscience.

Soon I noticed this lovely old couple (seen in the photo above) walking slowly hand in hand, lagging behind their group which consisted mostly of middle age people, young adults and children. The way they moved together unmindful of others, lost in their own world, enjoying each others company touched me. I kept gazing at them.. their silent whispering, the excitement and happiness in the company of each other was evident on their faces.

Soon they crossed me and the old man lifted his cap to say hello to me and the lovely old lady by his side flashed me a tiny smile. And all I did was stare at them lost in their kind gesture, hope they did not think I was being rude. And soon they were gone, lost in the crowd, never to be seen again!

This wonderful sight almost as soon as I arrived, got me thinking. How beautiful life is when you have somebody to walk beside you and grow old together! You don’t necessarily need a spouse/partner, sometimes even a good friend whom you share anything and everything with will do or sometimes just a dog!

To those who are lucky to have that special somebody in your life, just take a slow leisurely walk with them around your neighbourhood and you will realize that life is truly beautiful!

Thank you Mrs & Mr Young!
(I named them so!)
